A man named Tony Tan Caktiong had an idea of opening an ice cream parlor shop, and it happened, one the year of 1975, Tony Tan Caktiong opened a Magnolia Ice Cream Parlor at Cubao in the Philippines and named it Jolibe. But sometime in the year 1978, Tony Tan engaged the services of a management consultant named Manuel C. Lumba. Manuel Lumba proposed to Tony Tan to shift his Ice Cream Parlor business to a Hamburger business, Tony Tan and Manuel Lumba next re-formed the name Jolibe to Jolly Bee and made the two words form a single name Jollibee. Tony Tan and Manuel Lumba next created the product name "Yumburger" for their hamburgers, as well as the name "Chickenjoy" for their fried chickens. They made Jollibee Food Corporation in order to benefit from incorporation and leased a house on Main St. in Cubao, Quezon City as the first headquarters.
